Before anyone else thinks I was talking about T7 or any other powder, I was referring specifically to Swiss 2F for Ed since he was talking about Swiss. When I use real BP I pretty much only use Swiss and have found with my larger weight connies, 3F just doesn't do as well as 2F Swiss with the "big boys".

The FF Swiss granules are as small as most-all FFFs. Olde Eynsford is similar sized. I like the FF with the real heavy conicals also.

Yep, I've seen folks use 3F Swiss for flash pan powder and damned if it didn't work!! But most use 3F Swiss for pistol work. I sometimes use a 3F combo mix ( not going to say what I combine it with since some on here may want to try it and it is in no way something I would recommend ANYONE other than an expert in black powder cartridge loading to even think about, let alone do ) in my big bore BP cartridge guns.

Super next time to Dixon's I'll pick up a canister of Swiss 2F to try out. If I normally used say 65gr of Swiss 3F I'll bump up my load to 70-75gr to see if I get the same velocity and groups.

My wife gave me the ugliest face when I suggested we head due-south for vacation this summer - take the vehicle and plan visits to Dixon's Muzzleloading in Pennsylvania and Dixie Gun Works in Tennessee.

Doesn't look like I'll be getting to either place this summer.
