The weight in this new copper they have now that will perform like the Brass with the petals is 235grn. That's pretty much I think what your looking for. Im going to pick those up in early March and ill send you some to test.

Sounds good, a little bit heavy but worth a try.

I thought so to, but you asked what the 215CF in Brass would weigh in copper. You want it lighter?? Now is the time to change.

That sounds about like what would like too.

Grouse, what was your final assessment of the 215's?

The 200grn Bloodlines are better on game. The only advantage the 215 has is a better BC. Dave is working on making the CF line of bullets better.

I would be interesting to see what the existing 215gr CF weighs if made in copper. My best guess is...things get a bit more complicated as the weight goes up with monolithics. CEB's 240gr looks like it should work in sabots but it obviously wont, at least not in a SML....not sure about BH209.

I would imagine he can plug the new value (copper) into his CAD and stability software to get a very good idea of what to expect. I also think the copper might help that design separating better at the nose of the bullet. I also think copper might yield a few more BC points which is a HUGE plus for the SML crowd. A 40cal with over .300 BC that shoots in sabots could be very very popular.

This is of course just a wild guess.
