Just now i measured the thickness of the rim on the CVA Blackhorn QRBP, and the thickness of the rim on the Western Powders QRBP. They both measured the same.

They both measured 0.020" thick.

About all i know is they both can be picked up with a magnet.

The Western Powders plug weighs 895.6 grain.

The CVA Blackhorn plug weighs 972.4 grain.

The CVA plug has had to flame channel enlarged to 5/32"; the Western Powders plug still has the 1/8" flame channel.

Anybody think the softer rim on the BP was made that way on purpose? It not only needs to be set to the barrel when first installed, but may expand when the charge is fired to seal the threads.

That rim on the CVA BP is doing the same thing the rings and o-ring are doing on the TC BP.

To me the CVA plug is better. I'm glad I got that one. Thanks

Tom,

To clarify what i wrote this morning......the CVA plug comes from the factory with a 1/8" flame channel. The plug weighed, has had the flame channel enlarged to 5/32", by me.

Default More Breech Plug Measurements

This evening i was able to take another look at breech plugs. The plugs examined were the two Blackhorn QRBP plugs, and the Omega plug. Right or wrong, i am assuming the Impact plug is made just about the same, as the Omega plug.

All three plugs have 1/8" diameter flame channels. All three plugs have flame channels about 1/2" long. All three plugs have flash hole of 0.030" or so.

Yes, the impact plug is very similar to the Omega plug.

So the CVA BH209 plug, and the Western Powders BH209 plug both come with 1/8" flame channels until you get a hold of them. Ok, I understand that or did understand that.
