What makes this jerky "new" as a hunting snack? I would imagine jerky has been used as a hunting snack before any of us were born. Old Trapper is a 40 year old company.

Don't worry Pete, I just started seeing the advertisements for this brand recently also.
It is rare that I buy jerky. I prefer to make it myself. So far I've made it with deer, moose, bison and goose. All I ever use for seasoning is pepper, non-iodized salt, garlic salt and Johnny's seasoning salt.
When I use burger for my jerky I mix a bunch of ingredients and mix it in with the burger and let it set overnight in the frig. Before I got a jerky shooter I would flatten it out between 2 pieces of waxed paper, score it for breaking after drying and place it in the oven at about 180* for 4-5 hours keeping the oven door open a crack for more air flow.

Pete, you have to find the perfect downed log to use. One thats not to wide that you have to hunch over in order to drop it off safely out the back, yet one thats not to narrow, it cuts into your thighs and makes your legs fall asleep. Before the camper, I used to make flat stone toilets because I was tired of the old fashion way. I always had to make sure the rocks wouldnt fall in when I sat down

"Depend for men" Muley. You are old and can get away with it.
You can eat all the snacks you want!

I try to find a downed tree with a fork thick enough and wide enough for me to sit comfortably a do my thing. Well as comfortable as you can get with your back side out in cold weather. I can tolerate the 30* stuff ok. But those single digits are a bit rough on the jewels!

This topic has turned shoddy (or something like that). I just squat close to a tree and lean my back against it.

Finding the perfect log in the time of need is not always easy.

It's kind of funny. A lot of times when i'm walking along, or even hunting i'll see the perfect log, but of course I don't need it then.

Just stay there Pete. At your age I'm sure it wouldn't be long.
