Good question and I don't know. But what happened with that bullet is why we Quit using the 195 Barnes. They did the same thing. Always exit, but pencil in and out.

Very interesting test. What distance and powder charge was used?

Its a shame the other bullets were not found. It would have been interesting to see and weigh them. I never thought of the carpet, then thin shelf material before water. Kind of simulates a hide and some resistance before the water acts as body cavity. I like it.

Not sure the carpet simulates hide? Maybe save some hide on your next kill Ron, and test that.

I don't know about shooting carpet but the picture below has been my result with every deer I have shot with a barnes 250 tez. It's all my brother in law shoots and he has the same results. I don't think we have ever had a deer run either.
