This is a .38-55 that I only shoot BP in it. It is a hoot to shoot and wanted to take it into the woods this past year for deer season. I forgot to through it into the SUV and thought about it when I was in the tree stand. I will take it next year.
I shot a doe one year with a 1873 Winchester in .38-40. It was more for nostalgia than anything else. I believe the .38-55 would have a little more oomph but not much.
