Default CVA optima v2 pistol

I got a new toy. CVA optima v2 pistol. This thing looks awesome. Anybody using this. I'm gonna try and take a deer with it. Looking for some setups to use. Haven't got a powder or bullet selected yet. I got a CVA optima v2 rifle that I shoot black horn 209 and Barnes expanders in. Love that setup in my rifle. I may stick with the Barnes bullet in the pistol to since the success I have had with it in my rifle. What do you guys think

While that should work with the Barnes, with the short barrel you will have to drop your charge. Be sure the bullet you use can open at the lower velocities. Some other choices are like the Hornady XTP as many of them were designed as pistol cartridge bullets. Meant to open at slower speed.

I am sure members can tell you what bullet will work best. I read other posts about the same pistol and they were shooting 70 grains of powder. But they were taking deer. Are you going to scope the pistol? As much as I don't need another gun, that would be kind of fun to own.

The 200gr or 225gr XPB made for 45LC should expand very well at the V2 pistol speeds. You would likely enjoy the lower recoil and slightly lower cost also.

I am going to scope it. I have to get to looking for one. Haven't had much time with holiday and all. I am gonna use it to take deer here in Georgia where I live. I'm gonna try to stay under 50 yards for now. Got a lot to learn. I have wanted one since it came out and cldnt wait no longer. Did they mention what powder they where usein by any chance?

I like 90 grains Blackhorn with a 200 grain Lehigh and a 50/40 sabot.

I'm not familiar with that bullet. Where do you get it from?

I have an inexpensive N C Star 2.5 pistol scope on my encore 357max. It has a illuminated retical red. This really helps o to 7 so you set it for the area you are in. I got it through Sportsmans Guide. It is standing up very well. I have had expensive scopes that were not as good and twice the price. Just a place to start.

I bought this pistol this summer, have yet to take a deer with it. I shoot 85gr blackhorn and a 240gr hornady XTP. I only had 2 outings to sight it in (new baby does that to you). Dead on at 30yd, I need practice past 50. Basically I'm using it out if my bow stands until I practice more but the thing is a blast to shoot!
