Omega TC and tight yellow Sabots
I bought this gun new in '05 and drug it around on few javelina and deer hunts. Those yellow sabots that come with the Barnes 250gr are tough to load. Had a power handle break off once. I am in the process of upgrading and fine tuning powder, primer, spin jag and sabots. I have been shooting 2 50gr pellets and one cut in half for 125gr total. I did kill a buck this year so can't complain too much. I'm looking for some input regarding which sabots work best in the Omega. Plan to toss the yellow ones and put the bullets in something more TC friendly. I only use it it for draw hunts and not into just shooting for target sake.
Thanks in adavance

My Omega likes the Harvester Crush Rib .44/50 for .429 bullets like the Deep Curl. It likes the Harvester smooth side EZ for .430 XTP's, and seems to shoot a variety of .45 bullets with the Black .45/50 TC sabots. These TC's may be a copy of the MMP standard black sabot. Blackhorn 209 with CCI magnum primers work well with all of these.

You might be better off using the magnum pellets that are 60gr each, because I don't think you are suppose to cut or crush the pellets at all.
If you are using the Barnes 250gr TMZ try using the yellow crush rib sabot from Harvester because there made for the boat tail bullet an load much easier , It made a big difference for me in my Knight.
You might even want to try the Barnes 250T-EZ in the supplied sabot or the Harvester black crush rib sabot in which are made for the flat base bullet, they are suppose to load easier in tighter barrels.

I sure appreciate the input. It looks like I will order the Harvester crush sabot H15045BR for the .451 50 Cal Barnes bullets I have left with the correct alignment jag. When the Pyrodex pellets run out I will use the Triple 7 Mag 50 60gr (2 for 120gr) pellets along with Winchester T7 primers. Keeping it simple is not easy in the ML world...or is it!

It depends on the bullet you are using. I don't think you can just say "my gun likes these sabots." It's a the entire recipe of components that come together to give you a good load, not just one thing that fits all load recipes.
For my Omega, the following 3 recipes have given me 1" groups @ 100 yards.
260 gr Scorpion PT Gold (.450), Harvester Crush Rib Sabot (black), 90 gr Blackhorn 209, CCI 209M primer
270 gr Speer DeepCurl (.429), Harvester Crush Rib Sabot (green), 110 gr Blackhorn 209, Winchester 209 primer
300 gr Speer DeepCurl (.452), Harvester standard short black sabot, 110 gr Blackhorn 209, CCI 209M primer
Currently it is impossible to find Deep Curl bullets! I have enough to get me through a couple more seasons if I don't have to make many (or any!) adjustments to my scope.

sabots for omega
Been hunting for more years i'd like to admit. Have tried many, many muzzleloader combinations. Heres what i've settled on and have been using exclusively for several years. Very accurate/very deadly (at least for me), and easy to load. TC omega, 100 grains (by volume) blackhorn 209, 250 grain shockwave, and harvester crush rib sabot. Blackhorn 209 powder is amazing, much less fouling, so easy to clean up, and follow up shots are so much easier to load. One bit of advice - if you decide to try blackhorn 209, use CCI magnum 209 primers. Resolves any ignition issues. Good luck.
