Default little wee problem

me and my dad finally got to go shooting together today...i took the tc 50 cal hawken flintlock he took a model 70 3006....it was kinda wierd lol...i took it to sight in the powerbelts and shoot it somemore...first shot was low...about 6 inches..expected being it was zeroed with round balls...the range was 50 yards and i was cleaning pretty good between shots..2 patches with rubbing alcohol then 2 dry patches....nomatter wehre i moved the sights i couldnt get it to hit higher...i tried more powder and that only resulted in a more fouled bore and some unburned powder...i had about 10 shots in a 4 x 4 group....i got frustrated and them powerbelts hit ya a bit harder then a round ball and a brass recoil pad doesnt help...and dad woke up to go shooting with me and know he needed a nap before work again(works night turn) so i said it was good enough....well nothing is good enough for me...id like to be able to hit where i aim..i mean its close enough if i aim for the boiler room on a deer out to 50 yds its going to kill it..and with some guessing i can put it where i want it but i rather hold where i want to hit...i was shooting from a bench with sand bags....i did have a few misfires because i forgot to clean my touchhole out and my flint was dull about the 7th shot or so so the last 3 or so might been a bit off becuase i was jumpy...i didnt flinch during hte misfires but afterwards i cuaght myself looking up as the flash went off to see if it ws going to go off...it took alot of self control but i fixed it....but how can i get my gun to hit where i want? you move your iron sights in the dirrection its hitting right?(i was hitting low so i moved the sights down to bring it up...correct?? just checking that...) i did play with powder some too...started with 90 then to 95 then to 100....didnt seem to make much of a diffrence...the range is 50 yards and the bullet is a 295gr hp powerbelt...any suggestions?? thanx...also is there a problem with my bore? the first shot was with 90grs of 2fg goex...i went to load another powerbelt and i fought for like 10 mins to get it down and seated...i looked like a moron....thankfully noone but us were there...if i cleaned every shot it went right in like butter almost....is my bore just nice and tight or what i guess it will help accuracy but i couldnt get 2 shots out of it? im new to this black powder game....thanx alot

I believe you would move the rear sight up to raise the point of impact. At least with my williams peep you raise it for longer range shooting.

James is correct.........

Move the rear sight in the direction you want to go..............
Move the front sight in the opposite direction.

mauser mark and james are correct if the shot is low the rear sight has to be moved up a question from what I remember on your other post you were doing quite well with the powerbelt .The bullets you used to day are they from the same package or a newer lot of powerbelts?I myself never had any good results with the powerbelt would all ways pick up a flyer in the groupe. One more thing your sight picture is it the same or did you change somthing when looking at the sights ? I would stop using the rubbing alcohol a spit patch only then fliped over again and then one dry patch. What I also do before firing the flinter is to dump 10 grains of 4 f down the barrel prime the pan and fire then followed with a spit patch then a dry patch I found that this will burn up any oil left in the barrel. good luck

noe i feel like a moron lol...so thats why when i moved it all the way down they kinda went down more..then when i went a turn back up the rest of the shots were kinda high...so i want to move the sights the direction i want it to move....thanx alot....im used to shooting with a scope as you can tell....only think i shot with iron sights is my buckmark pistol...thats about it....thanx ill try to move them up and shoot it again...dad said next week we will try to get back to the range...then that weekend is the big hunt...i cant wait....i love shooting the flintlock...pretty bad thought my dad shot about 120 rds and i shot about 10...and he cleaned a mod 70 and a glock and hes very anal about his cleaning and was reassembling the glock and i just finished taking mine apart and cleaning the bore...im VERY anal about my guns as well....i ran warm water patches and a brush through my bore for a while...always noticed some black coming out the touchhole so i kept going until it quit coming out..then dried it in and out....and he was about done with a rifle and pistol....but i had a blast shooting it...its so fun...i can see myself getting into this stuff more...i like it alot...thanx alot guys....you got me hooked....wait till i bag a deer with it...a nice cool crisp fall morning....ffffBOOM!...i cant wait to see hte smoke cloud on a cool windless morning...it will hang around like fog i bet.....its gunna be neat i bet...i cant wait....october 18th!!!
