Pop a primer or two outside (or in the garage) into an old boot...........not much noise.

Thats what i do. Mainly to make sure the plug is clear and to put a slight amount of fouling in the bore. It also helps to "mop" up any oils that might be left after swabbing a clean oiled bore.
