Default Loads for 50 cal Omega

I shot my Omega this weekend with 245 gr Hornadys 90 gr of 777 and didn' t get good groupings. I wondered what some of you have tried and had luck with. Thanks for any help.

Provided everything else is fine with your gun.. i.e dry barrel, tight sights, swabbing & drying the barrel every-other-shot, I would then first reduce the powder to 80 grains.. if it' s good there -- then try 85.

Another suggestion is to change sabots. You want " magnum sabots" ... they hold up better with " hotter" 777. A few magnum brands are out there. When shopping, try to match yours as close as possible to the new ones. If yours are now green, you may end up with black ones. Not all sabots are colored equal.

Hornady 250 gr SST, 2 50gr 777 pellets, swab after each shot, winchester 209 primers,295gr hp powerbelts also shot pretty good with same loads as well as 220gr Dead centers (Perssision bullets).Hornadys were the tightest but each gun likes things a little different.Good luck

Not very sophisticated, but my Omega gave me 1-1/4" groups with a pair of Pyrodex pellets and 295 gr. Powerbelts.

I use the same set up as Randy and works good.
You must keep any muzzy clean and dry.
