Getting in shape

Upcoming hunting season is fast approaching. And I've put on few pounds over the off seaon. And old age ain't helping any. I started walking about a month ago. Started out easy 15 mins a day. I'm up to covering 2 miles now in just over 32 mins. That's moving along at a pretty good clip - something like 3.5 mph. Not too shabby for a 59 yo, overweight fart like me. I will be happy when I can cover 1/2 of that 2 miles at a jog to get he heart rate up.
I can already see the difference. I only lost 4 lbs but have tons more energy. And I feel and sleep better too.
Bring on those north central PA mtns this year!

Being on the wrong side of 50 myself....albeit a tad younger.:poke: I was thinking the same thing. So I broke out the bicycle and started biking 3 miles to work then back. Now that don't seem like much until you see the friggen hills I've got to climb to get to work!:nonono2: Coming home is much much easier so I take a longer route coming home.

My boy and I were out setting up the bear bait and he was shocked at how well I carried in my bag of feed. Climbed the ridge like it was nothing.

I started this spring working on the wood piles and never let off. I've put myself on a diet and try to get exercise. And it has been working. I've dropped off a lot of the winter weight, and have made a promise to myself that this winter I will stick with the plan. So maybe the hunting season will go well. As long as the knees hold out that is.

bronko those mountains are tough up there, you ever tried or got lucky enough to draw an elk tag up around benezette?

I apply every year since it started. no luck yet. And as for the mtns in NCPA. I have a camp in Clinton Co. so I know all about them. Everywhere from the camp is up hill. Some places you almost scrape your nose going up.

I could have for the draw. Too late now.

I was scouting this morning and saw a nice buck. Not the best picture. Lots of elk bugling. This is just 10-15 min from where I live. 8500ft. We'll also be going to 11,000ft.

Buck center of picture. It was only 40yds. It looks longer in picture. Not sure why.

they always do that muley. Got to have big time zoom for the picture to come out nicely.

No tags left for this unit bronko. You could come along though to help me carry muley :D

If I go down. Just dig a hole and roll me in.

I don't like to be dragged.
