Hale

Last season, my huntin' bud' comes into the cabin the night before Opening Day with all his blackpowder gear in a Sears tool box & pulls out this big tin can of wheel bearing grease. Well! By that time, we all had quite a few beers & I started rolling on the fllor laughing. Him being the real Rambo from Vietnam -- I thought he was going to kill me for embarrasing him.

Anyways, to make a long story short, I reached into my possibles bag & pulled out an extra empty black plastic 35 mm camera film cannister & proceeded to fill it with his wheel bearing grease. One of those cannisters filled with grease will last you for many years. I also use them at home for primers, caps... etc. I just identify what' s in them by using a magic marker on the light gray snap-shut lid.

The original poster said he used teflon tape and that won' t work well. TC' s own brand teflon tape is totally different than regular teflon tape because it' s designed for high heat applications and not plumbing connections. It' s a purply pink color and will not seize and is cleaner than any gorilla or wheel bearing grease. I own an encore and shoot T-7 so there' s no doubts.

driftrider,

Remember these 2 products; PB Blaster and High Temp Anti Seize

PB Blaster is the best thing goin with respect to frozen parts. You' ll see a can on top of many a mechanics tool box. If PB Blaster and some very light heat won' t free it up it ain' t comin loose!

To prevent the plug from freezin up in the 1st place Try This - For years I have used High Temp Anti Seize paste (used around auto shops). Brush the stuff on threads, screw plug in and it should never freeze up again. I' ve never had a problem after using the stuff on threads.

Good Luck

I use the yellow teflon tape that is designed for gaslines. I wrap the plug once with a little overwrap and then lightly grease the leading edge of the plug and tape with Knight Breech Plug grease. I then screw in the plug by hand, finger snug it then back up a hair. I also loosen the plug at the range immediately following my last shot, works with both my ML' s (an Austin & Halleck 420 and a White M98). Never a seized plug, even with T7.
