With your knowledge and back ground - you probably absolutely correct, but I really do not see a manufacturer doing that sort of barrel.
The 45 market is so limited and so very competitive the addition costs of building and marketing would probably drive way back on the back burner...
What is the need of the 1-40 portion of the twist? I was thinking from past discussion it was to reduce the torque and slip of the bullet in the sabot and bore. From my shooting experiance the other day with the MMP sabots I did not feel any of this happend. The collected sabots looked just like they had been shot from my 1-30 and the accuracy was really good - for me at least.
