oh sweet guys!! I took the hawken out again with 70 and 80gr RS charges and last night i melted my bullet lube and soaked my wads in it. Worked out beautifully! The 80gr charge shot identical to the 70gr charge! If i compress the RS all shots are about 3" low of the bulls eye even on a clean bore. Im a happy camper now boys. I figured out the issue and am taking the Optima out now with 70gr BH209 and see how it does with the greased up wad.

ooooh baby!!! 90GR RS gave me an accuracy loss of about 1/8" @ 50 yards. I adjusted my sights a bit high @ 50 and it looks good right now. Will try 100 yards later in a few days. I dont want to try 100gr RS, its an eye opener right now.
Muley, i'll give the Optima a try as well when i take the hawken out to 100 yards. I'll use 80gr BH209 with the 300gr AL.

All I ever shot out of my Renegade was 100 gr Pyrodex and a 435 Maxiball. The gun has a steel but plate. It kicks of course, but not too bad. These must be light rifles if you're getting alot of recoil with 90 gr or less with a 320 gr conical.
Pyrodex likes to be compressed. When I feel the bullet hit the powder, I lean on the rod and compress about 1/4" or so.
