Well yesterday I shoot my .22 and .44 mag. and used the Montana Xtreme cleaning products for the first time. Normally I use Hoppe's but I thought Id give Montana Xtreme a try. What I difference! It cut my cleaning in half and did a better job! Now i know that atleast for a muzzleloader the Bore Conditioner doesn't work but I havn't tested it for centerfires yet. But the other cleaners are fantastic! So good bye Hoppe's #9 ! I will warn you though, the smell is pretty burtal!

A few of us have been using Montana X-Treme Bore Conditioner in our muzzleloader bores for some time now. It works.

Just dry sway it out before your first shot.

Good thing it works faster. The smell will knock you out.

50calty - the Montana Xtreme Bore Conditioner is NOT a cleaner. Probably why it wasn't working for you. But it does work for its intended use. Now the Montana Xtreme Cowboy Blend is excellent.
My method of cleaning my MLs (sidelocks) lately is to plug the nipple with a toothpick. I then pour a cleaning solution called Turkey Tracks BP solvent down the bore (about 2 tablespoons). Swish it around in the bore by placing my finger over the muzzle and rocking/turning the rifle, then letting it sit for 10 mins. While the barrel is soaking, I remove the lock and give the hammer a good cleaning and wipe off and lube the lock. Pour out the dirty solution, remove the nipple. Scrub the bolster with a toothbrush and wipe clean. Run several patches down the bore til clean. Then an alcohol patch, dry patch, Cowboy Blend patch (to remove any remaining BP residue) dry patch. Then the Montana Xtreme Bore Conditioner to coat the bore. Clean nipple, apply anti-sieze and install. Then wipe off external metal surfaces with gun oil cloth. Total process takes me about 15-20 mins per rifle.
All my ML bores are nice and clean and shiny.
Note: Swab bore to remove conditioner prior to shooting.

Switched to B.C. bore scrubber awhile back, smells like baby powder and never looked back at the ole stinky hoppe's lol. cleans much better to boot! Ray

I don't know about the Montana bore conditioner. But I have been using their bore cleaner for awhile. And it is pretty good stuff. But then I haven't used Hoppe's for over 20 or more years.

Sorry but the chorny doesn't lie and it DOESN"T WORK for my inline. I think it was Semi or Sabot they found out too. Also I WASN'T using it as a cleaner. It consently produced lower fps even after wiping the bore out really really good. The first couple of shots are always lower and atleast 800 fps less then a clean dry barrel. The first shot was 1000 fps less! I just doesn't work for me. Now centerfires I don't know. But for my Triumph its a no.

This might sound funny but Hoppe's #9 when I smell it I think of my Dad. It was the only gun cleaner he would use, and I remember him sitting in the kitchen cleaning his guns with that and telling us boys all the highlights of the hunting that day. The smell does not bother me at all.

But I do use Montana X-treme Cowboy Solvent to clean rifles, Hoppe's, Birchwood Casey Bore Scrubber, Butch's Black Powder cleaner, and other home made cleaners. That Montana is some good stuff.
