I still need to do this on my Impact - I don't have a range rod or muzzle protector, but I would hate to do this process with the rod that came with the gun! Any recommendations on where to look for a range rod / protector? I see a CVA universal rod on the basspro site for $16, cut to fit, and was thinking about attaching a spin jag on the end of it - but glad to hear if there are other options too!
The absolute best (IMO) is the Knight rod built by Lehigh...

With the Knight rod you get a muzzle protector, with the Tipton you will need to order one - but they are not expensive at all.

There is a place on ebay that selsl the spin jags and they also sell a synthetic bore guide which works excellent for $2.50. almost forgot they sell ram rods cut to length for $29.00 also. Ray
