Default Open sight options?

Now that i may be able to shoot BH209 out of my sidelock 54 i am ready to go and get some info for some nice open sight options. I have an off brand set up on it now which didnt last long " stripped out screws - fiber optics fell off" and so i got a jerry rig set up on it for now.

Other than truglow ghost ring set up i like, i am looking for more options out there. I plan on investing some $$$ into the rifle so i need a good set of sights to get the job done.

A lyman 57 is the best peep i have found for out to a couple hundred yards which is a lot further than i can shoot with open sights .Unless of course i am shooting at the side of a barn LOL

probably not without some adapting. They fit the trade rifle, deer stalker and GPR . if you can compare the tang of the CVA to any of them it would give you an idea on whether you could make it work. I have the lyman 17 with inserts on the front. well worth the money. The front sight is a dovetail so it should work without any trouble

Then again I would rather you didn't have good sights just in case you make it up for a spring shoot

LOL!!

Well with this rifle, i really dont need sights meant for long range shooting, It will basically be a heavy timber, under 100 yards elk gun. Thats the idea at the moment anyway haha.

I do like the V sight but that chunk front optic kind of has me worried as i prefer a small dot for my front sight.

its the cva mountain stalker .54

Where i hunt elk, they are always in THICK nasty timber so i am just a little worried about a peep not being the best set up for this situation. I saw Williams makes a peep sight but obviously no where near the quality of the lyman.

I put a Williams FPS on my MK-85, it really is not a bad sight at all.

It has quarter minute clicks and locks screws for the adjustments. It looks and feels like a very high quality sight. Williams also offers different sizes of apetures and peep size holes. They also have what they call a a 'twilight' apeture which increases light in low light situations.

The stock apeture for hunting is 3/8" diameter with a 0.093 inner hole. I am blind and that apeture and inner hole really works well for me.

The biggest difference IMO is not quality because they are both high quality but the Lyman does have a quick release feature to move the elevation quickly and easily + they have a set stop screw to return to your original sight in spot.
