Thompson Center Scopes
#1
While looking online I found two sellers that have the TC Hawken 1x scope for sale. They are used with no paperwork. Are these scopes worth buying? Does TC have a lifetime warranty on scopes? If I knew that TC had a warranty, i would pick one up. They want under half of what TC is selling them now. I just don't know. Right now I can pick up a Nikon 4x new for 95.00. So I dont know what would be the better idea. If the bid doesnt go up I could buy the TC Scope and a set of new quick detach scope rings for the price of the Nikon. Any Ideas????

Problem is Breech some states will only allow a 1X scope amd that is far better than no-power....
Cayugad has several and really like them.

I can not help you with any information about the TC scopes... Here is some general information....

Thompson/Center’s Recoil Proof Pistol Scopes have been designed to withstand the rigors of heavy recoil, produced when firing heavy centerfire rifle cartridges in the Contender™ or Encore®. Thousands of rounds were expended in the brutal testing of these scopes. Zero points were checked and rechecked, as well as structural and optical components. T/C Recoil Proof Scopes offer superior performance where its needed the most, that's why we back every Recoil Proof Scope with our famous Lifetime Warranty.
Lenses are ground, polished and coated for exceptional clarity
All T/C Recoil Proof Pistol Scopes have the finest lenses in the world and are precision ground, polished and coated to provide maximum light gathering ability.
Nitrogen filled to prevent fogging
Recoil Proof Pistol Scopes are nitrogen filled to prevent fogging in adverse weather conditions. The turret caps are weatherproof, and scope components are sealed to keep out dust and moisture. Selected models of our pistol scopes have a lighted centerplex reticle. In the low light conditions of both dawn and dusk when game is most active, the lighted reticle can often make the difference in pinpoint crosshair alignment becoming the determining factor on whether you shoot or not. By simply turning the switch, the crosshairs are illuminated, “glowing like fire.”

A 1X scope is a big improvement over iron sights, I must admit that IF you live in a state where you can use more power I would get at least a 1.5X4.5 but that's not always the case and if you must use bifocals or trifocals a 1X can be necessary for accuracy. As far as I know the lifetime warranty is on guns,I can not recall ever hearing of a lifetime warranty on scopes.
Used scopes are very chancey the brand does not make any difference; all it takes to ruin a scope is dropping it so the gun is on top a slight bend in the body will cause parallax and accuracy is no longer possible I have ruined several that way[as much as I hate to admit it]. I do not buy used scopes.

I own two of the T/C Hawkins 1x32mm scopes. One of the Traditions 1x32mm scope, and a Nikon 1x20mm scope. As for the T/C scope...
I put one on a White Rifle and then proceeded to shoot large charges with heavy conicals. I was finally able to shake it enought to fog the lens. The accuracy with a 1x as compared to open sight... I can out shoot my open sight rifles any day with the 1x.
When the scope fogged, I called T/C Hawkins and told them what happened. No questions were asked about why it fogged, how it fogged, or anything else. They asked that I mail it to them which I did. with in the week, I had a brand new 1x32mm T/C Hawkins scope at my door.
I am not sure who made the scope but they are excellent glass and gather light real well. And like I said, if I compare a 1x to open sights, I'd take the 1x any day for shooting.
Wisconsin has now decided that we can use magnified scopes. But I still shoot the 1x on rifles. They are a good little scope.

IMHO Thompson Center scopes are excellent scopes for the money. I have several, not only on ML's, but on centerfire rifles as well. I have not owned a 1X, but the 1.5X5X32's, fixed 4X, and 3X9X40's that I have, perform very well. If you are looking for a lower power, compact scope, the 1.5X5X32, or fixed 4X, are perfect. I have taken several deer with these scope in all conditions, and they have performed flawlessly. T/C scopes are warrantied for life. I did have a problem with parrallax with one, I called T/C, mailed it in, and like Cayugad, had a new one within a week, no questions asked. I would not hesitate to buy another, in fact I just put a T/C 3X9X40 on my new T/C Triumph.
