I had terrible results when attempting to seat rounds in a brand new CVA Accura V2 using Trip. 7 pellets, Trip. 7 209s and Powerbelt 245s. When trying to fire 3 rounds in a row, after 1 round, I had to push hard to get the round seated. After 2 rounds I had to push with all I had, to the point that the situation seemed dangerous, to get the round seated. Apparently, based on research, this is because Trip. 7 leaves a "crud ring." So I went out and bought Pyrodex pellets and a small pack of CVA 50 cal 250 grain sabots. I plan on changing one variable at at time to try to figure the puzzle out. Has anyone here used the CVA sabots? If so, what kind of results?

First off befor I change the Powder I'd dump the CVA (Powerbelts) I take it that your using? Go with and this is My Opinion and I have always shot CVA MLers and through all of them I use in My CVA ACCURA's 240gr XTP Mags with either 2 50gr Pyrodox Pellets or 100-110grs of Pyrodox RS Powder. The results are 1" groups at 100yds and 2" 1/2"+- groups at 200yds.
Yes the T7 will leave a Crud Ring , did you swab between shots? that would help. Also the T7 Primers should be fine I use them also. Powerbelts are good for Target's but not so good on Game.

Don't take this as rude, your comment has been echoed by many, I don't think it would be wise to put myself in a situation where I have to swab between shots in the field. I can imagine a bad situation where I wound a deer, have a chance to put the animal down, but cannot because I have to take the time to swab the barrel.

Well I dont want to be rude either, but who Swabs between shots in the field while there Hunting? I never have nor do I know anyone that ever has.
I never ever ever had a hard time getting a second round down a Barrel after my First shot. It's a-lot different at the range when your sighting in or just shooting your MLer, then yes swab between shots or everyother, but if you have to swab a bore in the field to get a second shot off then YES that's Crazy.
So I guess then Im no help to you, except to suggest you try a different Powder if your having that much of a hard time.

I am having trouble determining what bullets you are using. Powerbelts are not sabots. Are you really referring to sabots or powerbelts?

Most powders (including pyrodex) will leave some form of "crud ring". 777 is the worst by far, but each shot with pyrodex will make it harder to load subsequent shots (and IMO affect POI somewhat). In most guns, that is not enough to worry about one follow up shot (including 777). When I did use pryodex, about 3 shots was max before bullets got too hard to load.

BH 209, on the other hand is one of the few powders that doesn't require swabbing for an entire shooting session. I have shot over 30 shots without swabbing and no diffence in POI. So, bottom line is that even with pyrodex, you will have to swab often. how often you will just have to try and see.

As far as what results I have had with powerbelts: Accurate, but I believe there are better built bullets out there that I have more confendence in, so I don't use them any more. If I were forced to use them, I would never exceed 100 gr of powder. Pushed too hard, they will come apart. In other words, 100 gr of powder will many times mean better penetration than 150 gr.

That crud ring from the T7 will definetely make follow up shots difficult you should definetly give the Blackhorn 209 a try the 1st or 15th bullet loads the same no swabbing. As far as loads in my V1 Accura I just went to the Speer Deep Curls with Harvester SBs,over 100 gr. BH209 . Finally got to shoot this combo Tues... 3rds I think its my hunting load...
