Well Mountain Devil, there's a few things I just can't agree with you on. But Buddy Holly? Oh yeah, we're good with that.
I was 14 years old and dancing barefoot in the sand when he appeared on stage at Pontchatrain Beach in New Orleans, along with Wayne Newton, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. |

I hate to bring this up on page #7, but do you all realized that Triple Seven pellets are duplex loads?

Anyone that uses or is interested in duplex powders should read up on detonation and all the relating facts.

I don't know a whole lot about the chemical composition but I'm pretty sure Blackhorn 209 is a nitrocellulose based powder just like smokeless while , triple seven and some of the other are Sugar based. I think there is a big difference between a blackpowder coating as an igniter on a pellet versus mixing 5 gr of a blackpowder substitute that is of a totally different chemical composition with different burn characteristics. Remember that 777 , Goex,APP are all fast burning powders. Only the granular size determines burn rate. That's why recommendations on 2f or 3 f etc.
I wouldn't personally want to be responsible for encouraging someone to do something that might get them hurt in the long run. That's not wise. While experimenting may be fun, it can also be dangerous if there isn't enough knowledge to know the potential ramifications of the experiments. |

As SteveBny meantioned that they are tested by the manufacturer. There is nothing wrong with duplexing if you do it in the right enviroment, with the right equipment, and have the knowledge to know what your doing. If someone wouldn't have mixed two or more chemical together we wouldn't have any powder to shoot. My point is leave it to the experts and not blow yourself and / or gun up in the backyard. It's not worth it. Nothing else to say. If someone wants to takes chances and gets hurt, there is nothing I can do about it. I guess a safety advidcate with an eye or fingers missing would be more believeable. |
