Great Job!
Thank you MountainDevil54 for doing the testing necessary to answer the question that I had asked on several forums about whether a load of Black Horn 209 could be ignited using a booster charge. Now I can go ahead and buy BH209 to use in some of my #11 percussion cap guns.
08-29-2009, 11:24 PM ...I've been waiting to hear about duplex loads using Blackhorn 209 in sidelocks or inlines that utilize #11's or musket caps. One would think that using a partial load of BH 209 would be cleaner than using a full load of a dirtier powder if it could be ignited reliably. http://huntingnet.com/forum/black-po...ts-powder.html |
I'm new here and registered just to post this: I appreciate what the OP is doing here.
About seven years ago, I purchased a Savage 10MLII (legal where I live) and haven't touched 'smoky' powder since then. Two things have made me change that: one, I got bored, and two, I had a successful elk hunt this year, and noted that I could do it again next year if I was willing to go during (cheaper) blackpowder season. So earlier this week I received a Green Mountain LRH barrel (the carbine, it was on sale for Christmas last week) and a used (barrel all rusted) T/C Renegade. I'm now pondering where to start, dreading the hassle of cleaning up after black powder (or T7 or whatever) and this thread was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! -Chris |
