Default A theory on Knight rifles

Since i struck out early archery hunting today I decided to go home and do some shooting. I had every intention of shooting the White but ended up grabbing my Camo thumbhole disc extreme. some 50 gr and 30 gr triple seven pellets( took the easy way) triple seven primers and 290 gr Barnes TMZ in yellow sabot. I used 130 gr ( 2- 50 gr pellets and 1- 30gr pellet) I stapled up a deer target . I always use the ones that show the vitals. This gun is sighted in so I took a shot at 100 yards. It was right thru the heart. went to 150 yards. 2 shot group , both double lung shots and a 1 1/2 inch group/ I then went to 200 yards. Took 3 shots 3 dead deer and a 4 inch group.I had a hard time holding steady today. Not my best but not bad. Then took 2 more 200 yard shots. one near the heart and the other one 2 inches away and a lung shot. 5 dead deer at 200 yards. That led me to this theory. That The Knight Disc Extreme is one of the best shooting guns ( and I have a lot to compare it to) I think you would be hard pressed to find a gun that will outshoot the Knight Disc Extreme. That's my theory and I will stand by it. All shots were taken from a bipod and the temp was around 90 degrees. I took 3 minutes between each shot and swabbed with a spit patch after each shot.. Now I wonder how the MK85 will shoot??

Glad you had fun today. There is no doubt in my mind that you are correct. CVA and T/C are really going backwards and Knight is moving forward. But, heck the Extreme is 10 year old technology and it's still better the the newer competitors with a Lehigh conversion.

Chet,
Where I live we can't use scopes in muzzie season so all I ever shot that mk 85 with was iron sights. It shot as good as any other guns I have but I never tried shooting 200 yards. I can't see that far. With that gun I found that the Knight black sabots worked good and I didn't use as much powder as you are using there. About 95 grains of 2f 777 shot pretty darn well. From the targets you have shown on here I'm sure you will have it shooting better than I ever did.

Yeah go out of business, start up again and have no guns to offer. Thats a good plan.

We can't use scopes here either, so I use my scoped muzzies during rifle season and my sidelocks during muzzy season. I haven't hunted with a centerfire in so long I forget what it is like.
with open sights I am only good to about a 100 yards. I can hardly wait to give that mk85 a whirl

Grouse I agree . I hope the Ultimate slam comes out and continues the Knight legacy

I don't think that was a plan That it just one of those unfortunate things that happens when you are owned by a holding company. Now that Knight has a new owner maybe they will be what they were before they sold to a holding company. As far as not having any guns to offer I would say that with the direction Knight had gone the new owner is wise in not offering anything til the Ultimate Slam is ready and build on that. By the way there are a lot of good Knights still available. You should try one sometime.

Already had the LK-93. Nothing wrong with it at all. Most knights ive handled dont shoulder well for me and use the silly primer holders. The fit though is the biggest issue for me

I own four knight in-lines... five counting the TK2000. There is not one bad shooter in the bunch. Any time you put quality components in a product like a Knight, you're going to have an excellent shooting system.

That is some fine shooting you were doing there.

Your evaluation of the Knight DISC Extreme is not only positive but accurate. I surely would add my voice to what you have mentioned.

I was a late comer to the Knight family, but at this time old technology or not the Knights I have are awesome rifles and I would be hard pressed to find anything better. Both the Extreme's and the Elite's.

Frontier Gander/Mountain Devil, - I think the best thing, is just to ignore most of what he has to say.

I believe Knight is going to try to rebound with the American Quality it was once noted for, I also believe that they will move back to the more positive Tony Knight way of building guns. Those of you that have an MK-85 and and certainly others models of the TK era know exactly what I mean. One problem I fear most is the cost of this quality. It is so much easier for the foreign market guns to maintain the low prices, while copying technolgy developed here and end up offering some really decent guns at much reduced prices. Yet still have room to reduce prices even further if needed, to undercut homeland products.

Hey im entitled to my own opinion too. Lets face it, we All have our favorites, some others though clearly have more love and closeness to the companies
