i was reloading some rounds for the 06 apex and an hour into it and a good temper going with having to figure things out, ive decided that black powder is a hell of a lot easier to deal with. Cleaning/reloading you name it, i'll take it over having to reload this darned centerfire stuff

I used to reload a good bit of Centerfire. However, my family has always been hunters not shooters. For instance, the last time I reloaded .280 shells I reloaded 10 boxes. That was 1996 and I still have 1 box left. There has been a lot of deer and turkey killed with those 9 boxes though...
I too prefer the ML side of it. Not that the centerfire is more complicated, I just enjoy the quirks and fun that goes along with MLs.

A comparison:
Working up a load for a cartridge rifle: Set up scale and press. Load nine cartridges with XX.X grains of powder, seat the bullets with three each at X.XX OAL, X.XY and X.XZ OAL. Load nine more with XX.Y grains of powder and seat them to three different OALs. Load nine more with XX.Z grains of powder and seat them to three different OALs. Go to the range and shoot nine three-shot groups with the various loads to see which performs best.
Working up a load for a muzzle loader: Grab a box of bullets, several packs of different sabots, a powder measure and a canister of powder (or maybe two or three different powders), and head for the range.

You just have a hard time with all your ML'S/CF'S.

Well that certainly was easy
52.2 grains H4350 - 180gr hornady bullets and remington primers @ 100 yards. First shot is the loner. I am betting the oil in the bore caused that. The next 2 shots were perfect. I adjusted 8 clicks down andthat aught to be perfect.

Pappy aught to be happy with the way his 06 is shootin as hes been asking me to reload for quite some time now.
Now to reload and try some 165 grain sierra boat tails.
Then sight in the new V2 Accura.

I have to be in the "mood" to do reloading.
Not too long ago, I just finished 500 45 ACP, 50 30-30, 150 30-06, and about 200 .223. I still need to load a couple or three hundred rounds for the AR 15, and should be set.
Funny thing is, we drew muzzle loader tags this year, so the .30-06 will set for at least another year. Maybe next year I can get an antelope tag, although Wyoming does sound enticing for an extra antelope tag this year, since I haven't had one of them for a while.
Later,
Marcial
