My Black Diamond XR has a QLA and it is one fantastic conical shooter. I shoot the .503 No Excuses 460 grain out of it. And believe me, that thing is deadly with them. It would also be legal out west I believe because of the hammer striker design.

I just am not sure I am sold on this new rifle of T/C. Might as well use a Hawkins.

The Black Diamond XR is legal in the PacNorWest. In fact of those people using an inline here in North Idaho - I would bet the XR is one of the more popular inlines. And we have to shoot full bore lead conicals.

I just am not sure I am sold on this new rifle of T/C. Might as well use a Hawkins.
And I agree with you on that point also - do not really understand, other than it is getting very hard to find a new sidehammer on a display shelf anywhere. Just seems the inline has taken over.

But I have another access - get the parts and make your own sidehammer...

Just can not help myself - collected another one thanks goes to Semi for his help amking a barrel swap with me...

Another Rene with a GM-LRH barrel (15/16ths) - it is lighter than a 1" barrel - much lighter

The QLA was, is, and always will be a very bad idea.

UC, I do not agree and I have never had any problem related to it. I do think they make it to long which is a waste of barrel length.
Sabotloader Do you know if the "Impact" will have a 1-48 to? I hope they come out with a 54, I like inlines but I like PRB if they do that it will be my new deer gun.

In fact I am pretty sure that Bull Shop Dan has a 54 TC Hawken with a QLA that he shoots in Alaska.

TC long ago said that there was a run of inline TC barrels that the QLA was not centered and suggested if you had one of those to send it in.

So anyway i do not understand the universal statement that the QLA does not work with conicals. Other rifles shooting conicals have some sort of the same feature by a different name and also seem to shoot conicals very well. I would like to think that TC learned from early mistakes...

Shoot! come to think of it I have never shot a conical from the Triumph - I really should give that a try - or has anyone out there already tried it.

Or does anyone have one a newer Hawken with the QLA?
i shot about 80rnds.T/C maxi-balls thru my first triumph and they shot great out of mine, but that was before i heard they can'nt shoot conicals...........karl

cva/tradtions use a small 3/8" VS TC's 3/4-1" long QLA. Why tc made theirs so deep is a head scratcher.

I think the better question is that why do some guns without QLA load and shoot every bit as good as the best of TCs?

Many find it convenient, and it is so long as it is done correctly. For my own part, I will always believe it to be an unnecessary addition of a possible way to screw up an otherwise good barrel. The deeper it is made, the easier it is to screw it up.

And I follow Sabotloader around making such blanket and rigid statements just to get his goat.

UC

The real problem is you feed a vultures - who continues to repeat what you have said.

The real problem is that many people are not as well versed in the art of using a ML as you are. So convenience is a big deal otherwise why pellets and powerbelts? or red plastic jackets?
