I love the .45cal muzzy. They are tack drivers once you find their sweet load.

For me though, i mainly buy .50cal + as our state has a minimum requirement of .50cal for elk size game.

I wish i had $$ falling out of my butt, I have $7 to my name, Maybe $10 if'n i empty out my change jar

What is the best caliber for hunting? Well, I believe that a heart/lung shot with a 45 cal is much better than a gut shot with a 62 caliber. In other words, what ever you choose to hunt with, place your shots correctly and you will bring home the meat.

My first ML ever was a .45 CVA "Kentucky" pistol... I started casting Maxi's for it and stuck with .45s ever since.

Now I have a slew of sidelock rifles/pistols, all .45s and they seem to kill just fine, some of them with only 50 gns of powder, and that damned 777 is pushing $30/lb down here!

I don't doubt that the .50 is Hell and Jesus on game, I've just stuck with the 'pipsqueak' .45s for convenience, and I like to be a little different too.

If I can push a pure-lead242 gn Maxi out at 1500-1600 fps withdecent accuracy, well, that's pretty good medicine for Texas whitetails and hogs, I've found.

To each his own, I reckon!

HH!

OK...Hmmm....45 or 50....guess it don't matter after reading all these posts.

Not retired.

Not rich.

Own both!
