Remember HR-45?
#1
Guys remember the post a few days ago regarding HR-45?
I got a reply back from both my congressmen. Here is one reply and my reply back to him.
I hope you guys did your part..........
Mr. KanjorskiI thank you for your continued support of my second amendment rights. And in particular to this current bill (HR-45).My thought on this is - Why would I require a 'license' to own a firearm? The second amendment already grants me this right as a law abiding citizen of the United States of America. It would be the same as being required to have a license for voicing my opinion or a license to be of a choosen religion as granted by the first amendment. We already have sufficient laws on gun control. We need these existing laws enforced.More gun control and registration will not do any good at reducing crime. It will just cause more useless spending of tax dollars in an already suffering economy. Thanks you for your understanding in this matter.Clem............[blockquote]

Dear Mr.
Thank you for informing me of your concerns regarding H.R. 45, the Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act. I appreciated hearing from you on this important issue.
Since coming to Congress, I have been a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and will continue to uphold the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms. Throughout the debates we have each year on gun control legislation, my goal has been to preserve our Second Amendment rights while keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals. As such, I have regularly voted for legislation to preserve this important constitutional protection and have opposed bills that would strip away the right to bear arms.
As you may know, Congressman Bobby Rush of Illinois introduced H.R. 45 on January 6, 2009. If enacted into law, this legislation would prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked. In order to obtain a firearm license under this Act, an individual must provide the U.S. Attorney General a photograph, address, date of birth, thumbprint, completion of a written exam, and signature.
H.R. 45 would also prohibit transferring or receiving a firearm unless the recipient presents a valid firearms license, the license is verified, and the dealer records a tracking authorization number. It would also direct the U.S. Attorney General to establish and maintain a federal record of sale system.
Following its introduction, the House leadership referred H.R. 45 to the Judiciary Committee for review. Should I have the opportunity to consider this legislation during the 111th Congress, you can rest assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind and take actions as appropriate to uphold the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please feel free to contact me again about any issue of interest or concern to you.
Sincerely,
Paul E. Kanjorski

We have that B.S. already in force in Canada and amazingly the registered guns and certified owners aren't the ones killing anybody. Just a waste of money to let the government posture themselves into looking like they're doing something about crime.

Good for you bronko. I e-mailed my Representative andboth of my Senators about HR45 also. If weassure that every member ofCongressknows they will pay a price for any anti-Second Amendment legislation it will beless likely such foolishness as HR45 will ever make it out of Committee.

Both of my senators and my representative have a very good record of protecting my rights but I still took the time to write to them. In my communication with all three of them they have indicated that they don't believe HR-45 will ever make it out of committee but they also expressed the importance of constituent input. They all say they have had more comments on the second amendment rights since Obama was elected than they have any other time since they have been in office. They appreciate the concern they are witnessing.
Everybody, take 10 minutes to contact your congressmen. It may not make a difference but then again...it might make THE difference. Find out how to contact your elected officials by clicking this link http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

Bronko It is tough here in New York. My Rep is Moe Hinchey a man who was stopped a few years ago trying to board a commercial flight with a loaded handgun in his carry on. Although he carries himself,he has a D- rating. how 2 faced is that? Then we have the "Honorable" Chuck U. Schumer for the senate. Everyone knows him,he is the one on tv right behind Pelosi, the one with the dirty nose. One thing though,we got rid of the "Hildabeast"and her replacement keeps (or kept) a loaded rifle under her bed.As a junior senator she don't pull much weight, just her one vote.
