Conversion of MK85 from 11 cap to 209 ign
#1
Has anyone converted their Knight rifles from percusion to 209? If yes did the conversion reduce blowback. I saw the conversion kit in Cabela's catalog, but ifit doesn't reduce scope fouling, then I don't think itsworth changing over.

I have not made the conversion, but with the open breech design of the MK-85 or like my Wolverine, I just feel you're not going to get away from the fouling in the open breech design. All I do is make a bikini scope cover out of some duct tape and it keeps my scopes much cleaner and protects them from the burn of hot gasses that are released.

So I can only guess my BlkDmd XR will do the same? Does anyone make a quailty scope cover for this problem?

I make my scope cover out of duct tape. Underclocked gave me the measurements. I made up some in all colors of tape, and they work great. As for the rings, wipe them from time to time as you shoot and they will not be too bad at clean up.
All the open breech loader rifles are terrible when it comes to fouling. My Black Diamond, Staghorn, Wolverine, and all my Whites are open breech. I personally put up with the mess of the simplicity and smooth function of the rifle.
The duct tape scope covers are easy to clean, cheap to make, and work great.

I have an original MK-85 (#11 cap/striker) and a Wolverine 209. I was experimenting one day and found that the Wolverine 209 striker and FPJ breech plug work in the MK-85. Using the red FPJ in the MK-85 does not eliminate blow back. I felt it was easier cleaning up the #11 fowling than it was the 209. The MK-85 using #11 caps with T7 shoots great for me.
