We tested from 44 inches down to 20 inches now you can make a case for the most efficient barrel length being 26 because that length is the point at which you get the most FPS for a gr of powder.
But that's not what I am talking about, first that was black powder if it the test I am thinking about. Second the peak of efficiency can change with the amount of powder as long as you have enough barrel to burn it. Third the peak has two sides to it and it is quite practical to go past the peak if you want high velocity . And last but not least I am burning Blackhorn 209 which has a completely different set of burning characteristics, it burns progressively at a lower pressure for a longer period. Lee

bronko best thing I ever did 2 years agao was quit a 2 paqck a day habit. I will say I want one every day and when someone lights up near me, M-m-m-m! But I know one puff and I'm hooked again. I can stay out in the woods w/out my fingers and toes getting cold this year for the first time, i can smell the deer when hunting them, I was able to climb mountains again w/out looking like a busted muffler blowing smoke.I don't get ear aches, chest colds and haven't gotten real sick since I quit all just better.This was the turning year for me as a non smoker. Stay w/it it will only get better.
congrats it does it better.;)

no coughing in morning
you can taste a hamburger
wife or kids say you now smell good
no more burnt car seats
can buy more muzz things;)
added 10 years to your life

yes,dupont powders were used ranging from 65/120 grs in .45/50 cal


mr.ed yard was the t/c ballistics expert that made test.

test covered velocity and chamber pressures.

CHARGES OF 70GRS RECORDED THE HIGHEST VELOCITY IN RELATION TO LOWEST PRESSURE.

above that showed marked increases in pressure for only MINOR gains in velocity.

this is info if anyone is interested and is about what i use for my roundballs and my powerbelts.

I guess that's a matter of view point. with 70 gr BH and a 200gr SW I get slightly over 1600 fps using the heaviest load I can get a tight group from with a 200gr SW I get slightly over 2300fps
With 1600fps i get a "0" of 140 by sighting in at 3 inches high at 100yds and a PBR of 160 yds
with 2300fps I get a "0" of 170 yds sighting in at 2.8 inches high at 100yds and a PBR of 200yds
This may be minor to you but I do not see it that way as there are occasions when I have the opportunity to shoot as far as I am sure I can be accurate and my 200yd groups are normally under 3.5 inches. Lee

I always got through to them. My problem was to get them to do the work the right way.

i sent in my lock to be repaired,that was on jan 24th.

i did not call, just a note why it is breaking my flints badly.

lets see how long it takes to get answer or get it back repaired or not repaired.

in past, they helped me a lot, i bought 3 hawkins .50 cal from them over years.

lets see what happens and i will report on it.;)

Hey, As to Cust. Serv. The best I have found is Bushnell, have delt with them about a Range Finder and a Scope. They charged me a shipping fee but, fixed both at no extra charge

Had a Bushnell Elite 3200 that went TU and they fixed it with no problems at all in a verytimely manner. They rate up there very highly in my book.

I have mixed feelings about Knight's customer service. I just got the trigger assembly back for my KRB7.It took them a few weeks to turn that around, which is about what I'd consider reasonable.

The problem is getting ahold of a customer service tech. I sent them an email in regard to this (before I sent the assembly in) and they never responded to it, but they did eventually respond to an email I sent about another question I had. I tried calling them to check on it and I spent a ton of time on hold, and could never seem to get through to customer service. Then I finally talked to somebody that told me that the number I wascalling (from the website) wasn't the one I should be using. They gave me the right one and I was able to get through to the service department, AKA "Sam". It leads to a personal voice mailbox for Sam, and he seems to be the only guy in the shop that you actually talk to there. The one time I left a voicemail it was't returned. WhenI didget ahold of him he was helpful and courteous and seemed to know what he was talking about. My impression is thatit is a very small operation.

I can say that CVA's Customer Service was the Best I have ever experienced. I purchased a CVA ACCURA and I loved it so I bought another. When I received my second one the (barrel-Lug) came off. I e-mailed Mark Hendricks from CVA and explained the problem and with in 15 minutes I had a reply from him! He sent me a pre-piad UPS label on the computer, I printed it off and sent it back to CVA that day. He also told me that as soon as the UPS's label information was in the UPS's system that he'd ship my replacement ACCURA right away. My replacement was shipped the next day. CVA did'nt even receive the one I sent them yet and my new one was on the way. I received it 4 days afterI first talked to Mark. I have also e-mailed Mark and asked him questions and my replys were always ansewred within the hour if not sooner. So Thank you Mark and CVA for your Excellent Service! Ron
