i put my butt plate ontop of my foot then load the hawkins flintlock.
my foot is getting sore from this.
any ideas how you folks do it while loading.
i was thinking of making something to set the butt into that does not scratch,so i dont have to use top of my foot to hold it while i load.

I have a Hawken TC FL, I bought a Renegade Percussion stocklast week on eBayand it has a pad on it. Going to convert mine to a Renegade for just that reason + I don't like the brass blasting my shoulder. Trying 60, 70 and 80g grains exactly for that reason 50 yards is my max range.

he had hawkins flintlock and he put on a nice rawhide pad that went around the stock at butt area up about 6 inchs or so.
it was sling also built into it.
i should have asked him where he got it ,he shoots 3f at 90 grs with.490 and this thing padded his shoulder and protected the butt place and your shoulder too.
factory tests on 28 inch barrel hawkins t/c showed that 70 grs of 2f with a .490 rb ball was best, they started with a 36 inch barrel and worked down.
