Luck of the Gol Darn Draw...
#1
Yesterday was the opening of late elk season.... My buddy and I hit the road early in the morning to get to one of favor rite spots.... I had been scouting it for the last couple of weeks...
We leave the truck and head up the skid trail, we make our split at the discussed spot - he goes his way and I go mine....
More facts... I have already shot my buck and I have the elk tag, he has not shot his and does not have an elk tag....
From that right there... you know 'the rest of the story'
It was a really nice dominant 4x4 whitetail - 75 yards out walking broadside to me along the ridge across the skid trail and then on down the ridge. Great looking animal...
His - 4 elk browsing over the crest of the ridge 50 yards from him...
Luck of the Draw????

Why is it that it happens that way? Better luck next time. Maybe hunt together, then you can both be happy or unhappy..
Well season here has been a real bust. No shooting, not even hunters in the area and nothing moving. I sat this morning again, and came in to take care of some business and let the dog get some walking around time.
I guess it is beat the bushes time. Find a track and start walking.. The local paper said the weather is perfect but registration is down. They said because more hunters are letting them hang. I say, more hunters are not seeing anything because the DNR let hunters for the past seven years, shoot the herd off.
