Default T/C Encore primer extractor

Does anyone shoot the Encore muzzleloader without the primer extractor that is built in to the barrel? It needs to be removed before the breech plug can be taken out and I think it is more trouble than it's worth. I would think the gun can work just as well if one leaves it off the barrel, but I was wondering if anyone feels the same way about it as I do. I know that T/C makes an aftermarket extractor that flips down out of the way for breech plug removal, but I don't think the extractor makes primer removal too much easier to warrant purchasing it. Just wondering what others think?

I shoot the Pro Hunter and just turn down the extractor. Easy as pie, Do you need the extractor? If it is not of any use delete it......

I put one of the fold downs on mine. I just fold it to the side.

The regular Encore does not come with theE-Z Tip extractor. It is available at:

I just removed the extractor from my Encore, and have been using it that way for several years. Just use my fingers to remove primer--similar to the Omega.

Same here, never need the extractor on an Encore. I do recall ONE time that I had to use extra fingernail pressure to remove a spent primer.
