Default Barnes TMZ paired with a regular sabot...anyone tried it?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried the boattail TMZ's with a regular sabot. I just got a pack of the short black sabots (Harvester for SW testing) and was wondering what would happen if I shot the TMZ's out of them. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, it tried them with crush ribs, regular Harvesters, and MMP HPH-24s. Didn't work worth a hoot - 8" groups.

Hammer I read on a forum somewhere about putting a small flat washer under the bullet. Don't remember how it worked. Seems wierd to me.

Yeah, I read that too. The Savage shooters were (are?) putting a #10 washer under the bullet to keep the sabot flat against the boattail. They claim it works.

Yes, there are a few guys over on the Savage forum that shoot the boat tail in a regular sabot, they put a #18 washer between the bullet and the sabot. Give that a try.

Lotta pressure there, I would think metal is better, but try both it is cheap either way. Just get a washer the same size as inside of the sabot, not smaller, you want the sides of the sabot not to give.
