I cast a 525 grain bullet in 50 caliber. In my Knight rifle I push it with 130 grains of 3F BP. It is a killer load. On both ends. Tom.
You R da man for shooting that load. No wonder they never get away. Chap
I did make an error. I shot the load with 120 grains of 3F-BP. Not 130 grains. My mistake-sorry. Someone on here calculated the energy one time, and the energy was awesome. However I do shoot a 130 grain Triple7 load in my Knight LRH. But only a 250 grain bullet.

I actually hated shooting that load. Every time I shot the rifle it would draw blood. Literally. The knob on the Knight bolt(MK85) would cut the webbing on my hand, between my thumb and index finger. However I did not have to shoot the load very often, and when you are shooting at an elk you do not even notice the recoil. But the range sessions were pretty bad. However the load was extremely accurate. I shot the load about 2 inches high at 100 yards. I like to shoot at a cross at 100 yards, and the subtensions of the cross are black magic marker(about 1 inch wide). I could touch the black with every shot, as long as I held my nerve. But I will admit that I had to concentrate on my shots.

The best part of the load was that I have about 200# of lead that came from church windows. That lead is some good stuff. The guide in NM made fun of me, until he saw how well I could shoot the rifle. Then he said he had just the spot for me.

I told the guides that the bullet would completely penetrate the bull. They all bet me that it would not. They lost the bet. Big hole in, bigger hole out. I told them the lead was "Holy Lead". So it had to work. Tom.

Guys:

Thanks for the recommendations. Tom,that 525 grainerwould certainly get the job done. Got an update on my draw: It is for an elk bull/cow.If the bull quota is not filled by huntingtime i can shoot either a bull or a cow. There are a lot of elk in that area, eitherwould suit me just fine.
