Did you notice that your action's shadows are also a rust color? I don't think you are seeing rust, probably just a lighting effect.

Ah Ha! You're right. That could be it. I even put that sucker under my the magnifier/light my wife uses for cross stitching and could not detect any rust. That picture sure got my attention though.
