Shooting for Semisane and his storm
#11
I was reading and saw that same thing too. That is a relief. The city and their residents have paid their dues to Mother Nature lately. I was hoping the storm would calm and maybe all they would get is rain. As I understand, they can handle rain down there. New Orleans is a really cool city. Although I has been many years since I went down there to pass out bead necklaces..

From: River Ridge, LA (Suburb of New Orleans)
Hi guys! Checking in from Canton, Georgia on my niece's computer. Thanks for all of the good wishes.
I've just received word from my son back in River Ridge, LA (New Orleans suburb) that everything is OK at the homestead, and electric power has already been restored at my house. Since power was out for less than 24 hours, I didn't loose my 17 c.f. deep freezer full of food. As a comparison, we didn't have power for three weeks after Hurricane Katrina.
It was an "interesting" experience evacuating two million people from the N.O. metropolitian area. Our normal drive from my house to my sister-in-law's in Canton is about 8 hours. Well, we left home at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning - hit unbelievable stop-and-go traffic all of the way through Mississippi and Alabamain the mass evacuation - and arrived at my sister-in-laws at 5:50 Monday morning. Over 21 hours on the road with two fifteen minute stops forgas and one thirty minute stop for food. EXHAUSTING!!!
Anyway, everything's good now and we'llvisit here for the rest of the week. I'll be checking out any local gun shops and pawn shops I can find. Got to get away from all of these womennow and then (wife, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, two nieces, and two FEMALE dogs).

WOW!! that sounds like female over load..
I'm really glad to hear your place is safe and sound and that the city did not suffer the way they thought it might. Now check out them gun shops, buy a couple rifles, lots of gear, and make the trip really worth while.
