That would be fun, maybe go out and shoot a few gators or something. I can't remember for sure but I think you told me once that you live near New Orleans, is that right? I have a lot of family around LA and my parents live just over the line in Orange, TX. If I ever get down that way for long enough maybe we can get together and make some smoke. Maybe bring some sanity to our crazy lives. Probably not though.

Probably not CRAZY. But SILLY!
Unless you have lots of free time on your hands and are into "challenges".
Easiest way is to web shop for the 200g SW. http://www.grafs.com/fc/browse.php?q...=az&p=3419
Next is to roll your own with Hornady's .40cal, 200g XTPs, http://www.grafs.com/metallic/560 , and MMP's 40/50 cal Sabots, http://www.mmpsabots.com/ .
If you go for the challenge, let us know how it turns out. HAVE FUN!

My wife has accused me of being silly more than once. I do admit, I like to experiment with stuff and that is what this is all about. I already have a box or two of the 200gr SW's and a couple of bags full of other bullets and sabots, I just don't have any extra 50/40 sabots. I saw these SST's with 20 bullets for a dollar or so more than the 15 bullet box of Shockwaves you linked to and thought I would see if I could come up with a way of using them without buying anything else. As for the time it takes, well, like I said I like to experiment and so the time is more like play time to me. I tried just cutting off one of the sabots base yesterday and it only took about 45 seconds with me taking my time and being careful, the drill method would take just a bit longer once I figure out the best way of doing it so it's not a big investment of time to do a few to experiment with.
It may yet turn out to be a silly waste of time and resources but it may also turn out to be an option to consider if a situation crops up where that is my only alternative. Either way, I would have had fun playing with it. It also gives me one more reason to go to the range.

PM sent.
I am hoping to get to the range sometime before I head out of town again next week. Between work trips and honey do's I've had very little time to shoot lately. I do need to get busy since I have a mule deer and elk hunts coming up in Oct. I also have to help the kids get their ML'ers ready for their deer and elk hunts.
I be posting a report as soon as I get a chance to go to the range.
