Default Apex is sighted and ready

Got the Apex this morning. Spent some time cleaning it up and making sure everything was A-ok and it was.

I couldnt use my bushnell banner 3-9x40 because the mounts i had were to low I ended up using the cheap simmins 3-9x32 and sighted it in.

I started off with 70 grains Pyrodex Select and a 285g hornady great plains conical. They load really easy which worried me. Now makes me wish i would have bought a pack of 275g powerbelts yesterday. DOH!

I am letting the barrel cool between shots and so far its been shooting great. Put up a new target now, Took one shot and perfect @ 6 o'clock hold up just a little to the right. I am going to load up another shot, let the barrel cool and then take one more and call it a day.

Ok after 12 shots with Pyrodex Select and the POI kept changing i was about to junk the scope when i remembered i still had a half pound of pyrodex P left.

7 shots and it was holding all day long and kept shooting the same POI on a clean/dirty bore.

Man these rifles are like women, They throw a fit until you give them what they want

Last 3 shots i did were ok, about 2" @ 58 yards but those will shrink once i put it on the gun rest and go for it.

I saved the last conical so i can slug the bore, send it to BS and see what he can make me.

Couldn't help my self. I saw some plastic touching the barrel so out came the tape and file. A few minutes worth of work and its all clean and no longer touching. A piece of paper also slips easily between the barrel and stock with a tiny bit of drag.

I may add one thin aluminum spacer later on to just slightly float the barrel.

Some more pictures. I love that black on black look. Might just keep her and put a little money into a new scope and such.

Pretty sharp looking outfit you have there... what are you going to hunt with that? It looks like it will be a good shooter. Do you shoot conicals out of your rifles much?

Concials and round balls are all i shoot.

Mulies for sure. I have to contact the DOW and see if a .45 muzzle loader is legal for elk during rifle season. If so, either a 300g powerbelt platinum or a BS conical i will use.
More than likely will let my brother in law hunt in New Mexico with it if he ever gets to guts to put in a for a muzzle loader tag.

She's turning out to be a shooter now that i switched to Pyro-P

Tomorrow i am going to take a shot off the rest at 71 yards and see where she hits and then move back to 58 yards and try a maxi hunters and see how that does.

I really hate when i cut myself short on bullets[:@]
