i shot a rabbit once and only wounded it. My dogs followed it to a tree and stopped. I was like what are you doing there is no hole there were did it go? WE had snow it went up inside a tree. WHat i say know is cruel i guess but i did it anyway. I put a 7 foot stick up the tree and heard it squeel, i pulled the stick out and the rabbit was with it. I caught this rabbit alive. I hit it in the leg so i finished it off i did not want it to suffer. So i guess to answer the question....Anything is possibble.

Had a big 'ol wounded swamp rabbit go up the inside of a hollow cypress tree once like that. Put the gun muzzle (12 gauge) inside the hollow, pulled the trigger, and the bunny dropped out dead - killed by concussion?
