90 grains of Goex 3f and a .430 diameter 300 grain Hornady XTP in a Harvester Crushed Rib sabot is an excellent shooting load. I have just got back in from shooting it today. I was picking off soda pop cans at 50 yards with it today. Doing fun shooting. I was trying different powders today. Graf's & Sons's and Goex. Goex hands down is a better shooting powder.
The picture above shows the first tworange sessions with the flintlock and the final sight adjustment. The red marked were the day before. The blue numbered marked were with two different projectiles and then an adjustment of sights and a final few shots with the 300 grain XTP's. The hits in the bulls eye really pleased me.
The little rifle is quick to point, very well balanced, and looks like it will be a great shooter. The fiber optic sights are not a favorite of mine, but will do just fine. I might throw a peep sight on the rifle, but I will think of that as well.
Also today I was shooting Thomas Fuller Black English Flints.. the speed of the lock was impressive with 4f primer and a new flint.

No cheater strip. There was a handle opening in the cardboard there, so in order to center the red dot, I duct taped the handle opening closed... But I have used a cheater strip as well in the past. Its amazing how your eyes can focus with something like that.

When I can get it, I like using white cardboard as a backer and those same orange stick on dots. You get a great sight picture in almost any light. Sometimes I will tape freezer paper over the brown cardboard.
