Well, how about that. Hopefully Rem will not screw things up too bad. It'd be a shame to see the very nice Marlin leverguns turned into cost-butchered pieces of junk just so Rem can make a couple extra bucks per unit. As far as the fate of the Handi-Rifles, Remington already imports a competing break-open single shot (SPR-18), so it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped one or the other. It'd be a shame if the Handi-Rifle got scrapped in favor of the imported SPR-18. Not to say the SPR-18's are junk (I handled one at a local gun shop and it seemed decent), but the Handi-Rifles are a great little rifle for a low cost and makes an excellent rifle for entry-level hunters on a tight budget. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Speaking of mergers and such...has anyone noticed that the "new" Remington AR-15 clone (R-15) looks a heck of a lot like Bushmasters new camo AR-15? I wonder if Remington might be eyeballing Bushy for a buyout too and secured a contract with them to see it they could sell AR's under the Remington name.
Hmmm...?

Cereberus Capital owns Remington Arms . Check them out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerberus_Capital_Management
Firearms - Acquired Bushmaster Firearms, Inc., from Windham, Maine native Dick Dyke for an undisclosed sum in April 2006, and purchased Remington Arms in April 2007. Under Cerberus direction, Bushmaster Firearms acquired Cobb Manufacturing, a well-respected manufacturer of large-caliber tactical rifles in August 2007. Cerberus also announced the acquisition of DPMS Panther Arms in December 2007.
And now Marlin.... along with half the rest of theuniverse. Take note of the basis of the name "Cereberus".
