Omega owners- what are your top 3 loads?
I know this subject has been hashed and rehashed...(in addition, I am not savvy when using the "search" function.) I am a pretty basic, casual BP enthusiast. I have only shot yellow tipped .50 250 TC shockwaves through my rifle, on top of 100 grains 777 pellets. I want to shoot some other bullets and wanted to hear what you guys have been having luck with...Thx for the assist.
Merry xmas
feel free to point me other threads if that will help...thx again

RE: Omega owners- what are your top 3 loads?
I guess mine proably has different harmonics than yours as most do it seems no two are ever quite the same;
mine is more sensitive to powder load than which bullet, with most bullets I get good groups with from 90 to 110 or 120 gr RS[230XTP, 250 SW,XTP,Gold Dot,300gr SW,XTP,Gold Dot; the exception to this is the 200gr 40 cal bullet with the blue sabot both the XTP and the SW shoot groups that average one inch or less with 150 gr RS or pellets
Mine will shoot the Sabortooth and the PB's with excellant accuracy with 150gr but I dont use them, I just dont think their design is right for the heavy loads that my Omega likes all though from what experimenting I have done the Sabortooth just might work. Lee

No. 3 - 300 gr Hornady SSTw/ supplied sabot, 100 gr 2f T7 (loose), win 209 Primer (bear to load with supplied sabot. I was offered some different sabots to try with the SST and I'll post as soon as get to shooting them all.)

120gr Pyro RS + 240gr Hdy XTP
130gr Pyro RS + 250gr T/C Shockwave
130gr Pyro RS + 240gr T/C Cheap Shot
Also, I can sub 120gr APP FFG for any of those and get good performance. Those are listed in no particular order

RE: Omega owners- what are your top 3 loads?
Omega 28" laminated SS
Hornady 67272 50 cal SST 250 gr -110gr RS or w/ 777 w/100, 110 or 120 grains.
Powerbelt 245gr 50 cal Aero or HP- 110/110 gr RS or 777 w/100, 110 or 120 grains
All group bacically the same in all three rifles I have shot. Only have one 28" rifle left for my son.
Omega X7 laminated SS
Have only tried the sabretooth 245 gr w/ 80,100 & 110 grains of RS. Must shoot a 209 primer squib load to dirty the barrel or the bullets shoot 10" high.
All the loads have tight groups if I do my part @ 100 yrds. Furtherest shot was 120 yrds w/ a TC ShadowHawk SS w/ 80 grains of RS w/ a 240 EXP. Very under rated, accurate rifle and balanced rifle.
LOL, Steve
