85 grs of pyrodex p enough or too much

I went to walmart after I got off work, picked up some TC maxihunter 350 gr. I have already setup for my range session for tomarrow. then I got going though my hunting gear and found 3 tubes of powder, 85grs each. Is that enough?

85 grains of powder and any projectile is more then enough for hunting with. The question is what kind of accuracy you get. I have a friend that deer hunts with 70 grains of Pyrodex RS and a maxiball. He shot a large Wisconsin buck at 70 yards one year. That maxiball with just 70 grains of powder blew through that deer and left a hole and blood trail anyone could have followed for the 20 yards it ran.

I am not really working up any loads for hunting right now. checking scope setting, and have little fun. mainly trying to get my mind off things.
I have been reading threads one conicals and prb. lighter charges with havier bullets. I more worried about it being too much. I am a little wimp about recoil. I do have a recoil pad on my ml. my very first gun was a marlin 12 ga single shot. what a way to break in to shooting.
I am going to do that conical out of sabot test tomarrow, any guess or ideas in your mind on what it is going to happen?
hornady 285gr great plans with a mmp hph 24 sabot push by70 grs of pyrodex p
my guess, god only knows lol

I usually start out testing for accuracywith most .50 cal loads at around 80 grains ffgGoexor PyrodexR/S. Many times I've worked up only to drop back to that load for best accuracy. I feel like that charge behind any projectile from 250 grains up is a serious deer load within reasonable ranges. If I'm expecting to push distances much beyond 100 yards I might jump up to 100 grains of powder, but that's about as high as I usually go. With shots out to 125 yards I've never found it to be too light. The deer always drop if I put the bullet in the "boiler room".

I will be working on after this season, 85grs was too much for me, I got a bad right shoulder, I felt the recoil with a recoil pad on. I think I will try 70 grs of pyrodex p when I work with them next time
