If you like a lot of options, a .50 caliber is the way to go.
If you get the .54, you really don't need all the options because the .54 caliber round ball is king. What you start to lose with the .50 caliber round ball at about 75 yards the .54 caliber picks up and carries it another40 or so. Pretty much what a conical bullet does for the .50 caliber. Down range energy at the least expense. That is what the .54 PRB does.

I use a 54 T/C Grey Hawk precussion. It is a great woods gun,where my shots are limmited to 100yds. or less,and yes, likeDave said, 100grs. powderand a PRB will about take out anything that get's in front of the gun. Ron
