If I was going to shoot off hand I would have to hire a maid to hold the barrel up for me.Been retired 11 yrs now so don't know it it comes from being just lazy or old age.
I have gotten pretty lazy.
Speaking of small groups,I went to the range this morning to help a fellow with a $2500,custom rifle in 7 mag,I think I should have tried it off hand I would have gotten smaller groups I think.Won't say who built it untill the fellow finds out if they make it good or not.He' going to change the scope and see if that is the problem.
I think the smallest group I got or he got was around 3 inches.Took along my 270 wsm and ruger 7 mag to shoot while his cooled and he cleaned the barrel.did manage to get a one holer with both of my rifles, the ruger I gave a young fellow at the range $300 for it because he didn't want the recoil and it was practically new.
I thought sure I was going to stack them one holers up with that $2500 gun.

Bear6 the reason people commented on your claim of a 1/2 inch group is.. if you consider a .452 projectile is almost 1/2 inch by itself. A half inch being .500 of course. That would mean all the shots would have basically had to hit the same hole. Even with your shoulder leaning against a tree, that is still good shooting. To do it with open sights is amazing.
Or a real fortunate accident-such things do happen, like Elmer Keith hitting a mule deer 4 out of 6 shots at 600 yards with a 4" S&W .44 Magnum! He was lucky he had a witness to this feat!

One thing is for certain, there's a lot of b.s. on the internet. Most of it is pretty easy to smell.

cascadedad, are you using the sabbotted lead BBs for those 200 yard groups? I can't get any better than 2" at 100 yards with my Red Rider.
