Default Posting misleading forum titles..

Is it just me, or do other people find it unfortunate when they click on a post only to find that the title has nothing to do with the subject.
I thought the title of a post was supposed to help me decide whether or not it would be a subject I have an interest in reading or discussing.
I don't think the title should be some form of useless lure to an otherwise irrevelent post.

I just ask others that read this to help everyone on the board by keeping the subject title relevant to the matter being discussed.

I thank you Moose for the enlightening input...Perhaps you believe that posters have no obligation to follow the stated rules of the board...

rule#8
"Those who post messages not relating to the topic area, will have the threads closed or the posts deleted. "

i do agree with the whole title being what the post is about then you can decide if that interests you but people are just doin it to get other peoples attention..and i think it works

I find it annoying at times. Like when I dont have a lot of time so I click on the "interesting" threads only to discover they arent what they say they are.

I also find it funny at times...but moreso annoying.

I dont think its meant to cause problems, but it would be nice if people could just use a fitting thread title.

Besides, thread titles are almost an art form....trying to draw the reader in without using off topic titles can be difficult, but fun...at least I enjoy it.

We should have a "best thread title" competition. Of course the titles would have to actually relate to the posts...
Not like "Naked Women fishing"....with a link to Trout Unlimited.

have a good one all.

jcc,

You make a very valid point. The Topic(Title) should have a direct bearing on the subject matter you want to discuss.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of using misleading titles for the posts. The Naked Women Fishing one was a little funny though. I didn't understand it but it made me laugh when mattiac reminded me of it.

Most there is no harm done. Most are just trying to liven up the place with some comedy. There's a fine line however between no harm and just wrong. Guys, its just the internet. Not curing cancer here.
