Charlie has it about right you don't take a shotgun to a cannon fight.
What I mean by that is even though the Scout is a great rifle it was not meant for miricle shots and I have never tried to tune one for such. I would say about 150yds would be the max range for the little rifle even though down range ballistics would still give it a nod. We are talking about m/l here. Not Weatherbe's or model 700's.
I sight in at 75yds and test at 100. To be honest I don't even sight in my centerfire rifles further than that. I am not going to take a shot at game that far out. Not with my Scout, not with my Encore and not even with my Savage in .308.

I believe my friends kept their shots under 100 yards. They didn't talk much about deer hunting with it thoughI know they did. I don't think you should try anything over 150 with that gun or any for that matter.
