I am looking into getting a new muzzleloader and i had a couple of question.
1) what can i get (if anything) out a T/C Black Diamond. its in pretty good shape and it has a bushnell scope on it.
2) I am thinking about the T/C omega. does anyone have any complaints about that gun, or any other suggestions. whatever the new gun is it has to have a thumbhole in the stock.

Well I am guessing then you want to sell your Black Diamond and purchase the Omega. As for what you will get out of it will depend on the market and what you're willing to accept. All too often I see on Auction sites people with used muzzleloaders expecting to get near retail value for the rifle. Well if you watch, they seldom sell the rifles.
The worst part was the market was flooded with NIB Black Diamonds and even Omega Z5 for some prices that were hard to believe. I think you would have a good chance of selling you Black Diamond for a reasonable amount but I would hate to place a dollar value on it, or even tell you want I would be willing to pay. From the sound of the scope, it might be a Bushnell, but Bushnell is one of those companies that sell scopes from $60.00 all the way up to $400+.
Maybe that is the reason I never sell any of my rifles. I still like to shoot them, I know that what I would be offered for them would not be near my investment in most cases, so I just hold on to them and then purchase another and another, etc.
The Omega is without question a great rifle. Although at this stage, I might hold off and see what the Triumph has to offer as to my understanding it will not be a lot more in the cost department of a good Omega...
Sorry I could not be of help to you.

I agree with Dave on the value of your Black Diamond.
One of the newthings on the Trumph is going to be an improved trigger guard giving more room for gloved fingers. I have heard complaints of the small trigger guard on the Omega.

First off let me tell you I refuse to sell any of my guns. People think you should give them away or they don't want them. So I refuse to give them away so I keep them. these same people think there guns are gold. OK now let me also tell you I'm always on the look out for a deal myself. Last year I bought a TC Black dimond blued and camo for $100.00. The guy told me he was up to the Kittery Trading Post and that was all they were getting for used Black Dimonds. I couldn't getthe money to him fast enough. I also have the Omega stainless barrel thumb hole camo stock. I toped it off with a Nikon Buckmaster Scope. And I worked my tail off with it trying ever different powder and bullet combo I could find and drove everyone in here crazy with all my questions. But now I can tell you that out of all the guns I own including smokeless the Omega is the finest and most accurate gun I own.
Basicly what I'm saying is keep your Black Dimond its a real nice gun to have and to use as a back up. And get the Omega you won't be unhappy with your choice. Just remember your gun is only as good as you make it. So take your time clean between every shot and and good luck.

If the Black Diamond is shooting well for you and the primary reason to change is to get a thumbhole stock, I would suggest you just purchace a thumbhole stok for the BD. I have seen quite a few on the auction sites with that stock so I'm sure one is available somewhere.

A7xfan,
I would have to agree w/ most. I would probably keep the BD for those days w/a guest hunters or give it to a boy scout or a deserving young hunter. The ONLY difference between the Omega and the BD is you get a longer barrel w/o the powder burn on the scope, nosafety, and aneasier rifle to clean. I have the 24" TC Thunderhawk and just gave my first Omega to my new son in law. Most likely my son will get the lam OmegaI now own.Think I would buy the X7 just because I like the shorter barrels on the X7 but you get a rifle w/ the same overall length of a rifle like the Thunderhawk w/ those great features of straight bore all the way..
