460 gr white bullets
#1
The 460 gr. bullets will not shoot well in my white rifle in .451. I tried a bunch of different powder charges. The kicker here is when I bought the rifle the guy I bought it from gave me some bullets. they are big conicals and the shoot really well. They are shorter than the 460's and I dont think he would have bought them from bullshop. maybe no excuses or white. What do you think i should try next I am thinking about the 200 gr. xtp in a sabot. I would like to shoot the conicals and try out the bullshop what do you think i should try any help would be great, thanks.

I don't have a .451 White (wish I did) but if I did, I would get some bullshop conicals. As for the weight of them, ask Underclocked or some of the other DWB's that have that caliber. I am sure they can turn you on to a good weight and powder charge.

My SS91 .451 shoots both the NE 460's and bullshop 466's better then I can shoot with 70 to 80 gr 3fT7.
Took a doe at 153 yds this year. Not nearly the same accuracy with the white conicals.

savagescout if it were me I would buy the 50 caliber conicals (460grn) and jam them down the barrel until my 45 cal became the real mans cal which is the 50 (ha ha) and then your gun would shoot like mine

The bullets White sells seam to be a little undersized for a lot of guns. I have 3 White .451's a G-Series Whitetail, a old style S91 and a javalina pistol. The NE 460's shoot very good in all three, and I have a custom mold too that casts a 460 grain gas check. I size them to .450" but some of the other White shooters size .451. The sizing makes a difference. You should slug your barrel to see what you have. It is easy to do, take a spare bullet and insert into the bore, take the plug out the back then put a cleaning rod or dowel in each end and with one end on the floor tap the other end to compress the bullet, then push the bullet out and measure the goves in the bullet, should be close to .451. Once you know the bore size Bullshop can custom size bullets for you, usually you will want 1/2 to 1 thousand of an inch smaller than bore. Oh, my hunting load is 90 grains of T7 ffg and my home cast 460 grainers, same load works great with the NE too.
But if you want to shoot plastic I'm sure you can find a good combonation, one thing I have found is that the White .451 is a little smaller in bore than most .45s and the sabots are all made for the larger bores.

I have a bunch of these bullets given to me by a fellow who had a White rifle and sold it.
I tried them in a Traditions Lightning Lightweight which they seemed to fit quite well. With 90 grains of Pyrodex P they shot beautifully! But they are such heavyweights, I think they would be good for elk and bear, but are unecessarily heavy for deer hunting. Recoil is up there in the "noticeable" range also.

You really must give special attention to the rate of twist in your barrel, then go from there. Not familar with the 451, but my 504's have a 1-20 twist and shoot 460 NE bullets very good with 85 grainsof 777, with a #11 primer cap. From my experience 209 primers offer no advantage other than helping to cause a crud ring. I sighted my White in at 140 yards and the group was less than 1-1/2 " with most touching and the extremme spread was a flyer that was human error, if not for that the group would have been under an inch, Nothing like being a dirty White boy./

Get a sample package from Dan at Bull Shop - I would try a few of all his .451 offerings - but do as goatbrother suggested and make sure you order the correct diameter. Dan will make you up a package with a few of each and price them very reasonably. His 488 grain bullet was sent to me for testing, but I never got around to it so sent them on to Batchief in Indiana for him to test. Batchief should be testing them shortly. Willjust about guarantee that bullet will be a great performer... but healthproblems, phase of the moon, rectal lead deposits, and too many other rifles that need shooting kept me from trying them.

.451 Whites have 1:20 twist
