Stuck primer plug - help...
I've got an inline CVA and the primer plug is stuck in there. I've tried WD-40, but still no dice. Any suggestions?
I've read about the grease or lube prior to seating it in and I'll do that next time, but I need help getting it out.
thanks

You could try removing the barrel assembly from the stock. Wrap it in a soft cloth then put it in a vice between two hunks of pine lumber. Then try a proper socket and see if it will break free. If not, you may have to resort to a little heat applied to the breech plug area to free it up. Be careful and go easy on the heat. A hair dryer might be enough.

Try the socket. Get it in some sort of vice and use quick jerks to break it loose. Make sure it has been soaked with the wd-40 for awhile first.

I like the vice and heat idea.
Get some white lithium grease at the hardware store for the breechplug after you get it free.
Clean your rifle after every day that you have shot it.
I like to use WD-40 too.

Are you trying to remove the breech plug for cleaning purposes? Did you use the breech plug grease prior to installing it. If not, you may be better off just cleaning it within or buying a new one. Bass Pro has a sale this weekend $79.00 CVA muzzleloaders.

I don't know if this is possible on the cva (it would work on my knight), get an impact wrench and socket and give it hell. You need to be able to shake or jar it loose.

All those are good ways to get the plug out I have put the barrel in a vise then put a wrench on the plug and hit the wrench with a hammer easy to break it loose. once you have it out wire brush the threads and put some antisieze compond on the theards every time you take it apart it makes it a lot easier the next time you pull the plug.Good luck with it Be SAFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you talking about the entire breech plug or just the nipple?
